UCONN SCHOOL OF LAW ASYLUM AND HUMAN RIGHTS CLINIC Hartford, CT Law Student Representative, August 2023 – January 2025 Participated in 1.5 years of clinic fieldwork, including the successful defensive representation of an indigenous human rights defender from Guatemala and an affirmative application of asylum on behalf of a gay man from Ghana. Work included legal brief writing, motion drafting, documentary evidence collection, and ancillary matters (ie. CONNECTICUT FAIR HOUSING CENTER Hartford, CT Summer Fellow, June 2024 – August 2024 Advocated on behalf of tenants facing various forms of housing discrimination. Drafted CHRO complaints, attended Fair Rent Commission hearings, and investigated conditions issues. Conducted client intakes and fielded inquiries concerning eviction, litigation, and administrative agency cases.
GREATER HARTFORD LEGAL AID Hartford, CT Community Justice Fellow, July 2023 – August 2023 Provided direct client support (intakes, site visits, court appearances, city and social service liaising) as well as indirect support (legal research, prehearing brief drafting) to the housing and immigration staff. Focused on relocation assistance to those displaced by flooding. Produced a summary process guide.
CROATIAN MEDIATION ASSOCIATION (HUM) Zagreb, Croatia Human Rights Institute Mediation Fellow, June 2023 – July 2023 Conducted comparative legal research on international mediation and conflict resolution systems. Met and trained with professionals across numerous institutions: Judge Srđan Šimac, the Victims and Witness Support Service Croatia, Vukmir & Associates, the Center for Peace Studies, the Law Clinic of the University of Zagreb Faculty of Law, and the European Center for the Study of War and Peace.
INTEGRATED REFUGEE & IMMIGRANT SERVICES (IRIS) Hartford, CT Case Manager, September 2021 – May 2022 Prepared for and welcomed newly arrived refugee and parolee families from Afghanistan, Syria, and the DRC. Ensured basic needs, orientations, referral services, and public benefits were provided. Assisted clients with obtaining I-94’s and social security cards. Made legal referrals where applicable. Liaised between clients, interpreters, volunteers, and service providers. Maintained print and digital case files.
CREATIVE EXPERIENCE
VESSEL Hartford, CT Co-Founder, December 2015 – April 2024 Arts collective founded in collaboration with Namulen Bayarsaihan, existing in the intersection of food, art, and social justice. Vessel has presented interdisciplinary, multimedia pieces in spaces around the world, including in Bogotá, Toulouse, and New Haven, CT.
NO.6 STORE New York, NY Back of House Manager, November 2018 – August 2019 Oversaw inventory management, assisted with operations, and fulfilled all web orders at this fast-paced, reputable boutique. Acted as liaison between the sales floor, back of house, and e-commerce teams.
MARY MATTINGLY STUDIO New York, NY Studio Assistant, February 2017 – August 2019 Maintained research, development and production roles in various environmentally-focused public art projects. Spoke at Pratt Institute’s Research Symposium on behalf of SWALE. Played an integral role in the installation of exhibitions including Höhenrausch in Linz, Austria.
REAL ART WAYS Hartford, CT Visual Arts Coordinator, May 2015 – May 2016 Managed five gallery spaces and contributed to printed material and grant applications. Developed and curated two solo shows centered on the Syrian refugee crisis. Produced collaborative community events aimed at increasing inclusion and access to the space
